Lighting Services Inc is the premier specialty manufacturer of Track, Accent, Display and LED Lighting Systems. Since 1958, LSI has been dedicated to designing, engineering and manufacturing the highest quality lighting systems.
The Problem
In order to provide the highest quality painted finishes on their lighting fixtures, Lighting Services knew that they had to start with the cleanest possible surfaces. This led to investing in a parts washer to do the cleaning job. The result was perfectly clean parts going in for painting and any dirt or oil that was on the parts was transferred into wastewater which was hauled away in 55 gallon drums.
RunDry Test Results
Lighting Services reached out to the RunDry Evaporators Company for help. Testing provided by RunDry Evaporators showed that they could boil off all the water and be left with just a small amount of oily sludge.
The Solution
Based on that test, the clear solution was to install a RunDry Evaporator. Lighting Services purchased a 5 gph Electric RunDry Evaporator. This evaporator is designed to “run dry”, which means no industrial wastewater leaves the site. The smallest amount of oil and dirt is periodically taken away by an environmental firm.
The Results
Now that the RunDry Evaporator is installed, Lighting Services is reaping the benefits. The operator sets the evaporator to run on autofill and it makes it easy to be a green neighbor and to provide products that have been manufactured in an environmentally responsible manner.
The Savings
Lighting Services wanted to achieve zero wastewater discharge because it was the right thing to do. They want to provide the world with the most beautiful lighting possible, but also wanted to keep New York’s waterways clean in the process. Saving money was not the primary goal, but it ended up being environmentally responsible was also the right financial move. Since the RunDry unit evaporates the water at a cost of only $0.24/gallon, it helped Lighting Services save a lot each year!
